Czym jest projektowanie graficzne? Ktoś zna definicję, może posiada własną. Proszę o komentarze. Wysłuchałem ostatnio ciekawego wykładu na ten temat. Podobno nazwy tej użyto po raz pierwszy w 1911. Jako dyscyplina w porównaniu do innych kreatywnych profesji dopiero raczkuje. Podobno spory procent ludzi, którzy kiedy kolwiek zajmowali się projektowanie ciągle żyje. Śmiesznie. W każdym bądź razie podczas wyżej wspomnianego wykładu jedna definicja przykuła moją uwagę. Autorem jest Rick Poynor pisarz poruszający w swoich tekstach kwestie designu. Zapytany czym jest projektowanie graficzne odpowiedział, że to forma wizualnego/graficznego (w j. polskim graficznego chyba lepiej brzmi) dziennikarstwa. Zgadzam się w 100%. Miłego! What is graphic design? Do you have your own definition, feel free to comment. Lately I heard talk about this. They said that this term was used for the first time in 1911. Funny thing, some percent of people that have ever been graphic designers is still alive. I thin the best and the mos accurate definition that I heard was the one by Rick Poynor. He said that graphic design is a form of viusal journalism. Damn, thats good, high five!

Jakiś czas temu wrzuciłem kilka projektów logo dla nowo powstającego serwisu muzycznego. Wave lada dzień uderzy. Tym czasem zakończyłem pracę nad znakiem i innymi elementami identyfikacji. Jestem zadowolony, chyba najbardziej z logo i tego, że nie zostało odrzucone w trakcie pracy. W sumie nieczytelne i abstrakcyjne ale myślę, że pasuje do tematu, zapada w pamięć i co najważniejsze pozytywny odzew ze strony grupy docelowej. Także na plus. Poniżej obrazkowe rozwinięcie całości, miłego! Some time ago I designed logo for Wave, new music website. It will be online very soon. I’ve finished work on sign itself and whole id. I’m quite happy. Mostly because mark went thru. It’s not readable and a little bit abstract but on the other hand fits to music theme like no other. 1:0 for me. below some id flicks.

Dobrzy ludzie z Lublina powołali do życia ZIN, magazyn online traktujący o szeroko pojętej twórczości osób związanych z tym miastem. Kilka okładek z mojej skromnej biblioteczki. Jakiś czas temu usłyszałem termin porno dla designerów w odniesieniu do filmu Helvetica. Coś w tym jest, gapiąc się na te okładki, przeglądając zawartość właśnie tak się czuję. To chyba małe zboczenie. Few covers from my smal library. Some time ago I heard this term when talking about Helvetica movie. I really like it, there is something in it. I feel just like watching porn looking at all this covers. Have a nice day!

Walking Jazz Fest

Wymyśliłem sobie, że kilka ilustracji z projektu 149 mogłoby się nadać do plakatów. Robocza nazwa dla jednego z nich to Walking Jazz Festival. Kreska i narzędzie fajnie grają z klimatem muzycznym. Poniżej kilka szybkich projektów. I was thinking that some illustrations from 149 project could be used in posters. I invented Walking Jazz Fest to give background for the first one. I think that line and a tool really nice play with this particular music genre. Enjoy.

Kałabanga! Co za niespodzianka. Moje projekty zostały wytypowane przez serwis Łowcy Dizajnu do udziału w konkursie Najlepsza Zdobycz 2011. Rzeczą, która najbardziej cieszy jest umieszczenie moich wypocin w gronie 18 mega świetnych kandydatów. Cholera Agata Dudek aka Fikander aka Dudu, Jan Bajtlik, Paweł Kuczyński, projekt Kiss My Wall, Studio Hipopotam i inni znakomici twórcy, gdzie mi tam do nich. Dziękuję bardzo za wyróżnienie! Przy okazji proszę o głosy:) Tutaj link do klikania i głosowania. Wielkie dzięki! Wow, such a nice surprise. My projects were chosen to compete in Design Hunters Competition on the best design hunt of 2011. The thing I’m happy the most is the people that competing with me. I mean there are some of the best young designers from Poland such as Agata Dudek aka Dudu, Jan Bajtlik, Paweł Kuczyński, Kiss My Wall project, Hipopotam Studio and others. Kiedyś ostrzegano mnie, że takie akcje będą miały miejsce, nie bardzo się przejmowałem, w sumie teraz też. Ale w końcu poczułem jak to jest. Wczoraj wstępnie wprowadzono nas do kolejnego projektu. Kiedy Robin zapowiedział, że będziemy nad nim pracowali z grafikami na niebie pojawiły się gęste chmury a pioruny waliły salwami z karabinów. Przesadzam trochę ale wydźwięk klimatu był jednoznaczny. Ilustratorzy mają beef z grafikami. Poszło kilka pstryczków w nos pod adresem tych drugich, tych zza ściany. Wszystko było by spoko gdyby nie to, że bardziej czuję się jednak grafikiem niż illustratorem. W ogóle głupie te podziały, szkoła nosi nazwę Communication Design więc chodzi o to samo tylko narzędzia inne. Nie rozumiem trochę takich akcji. Dziwnie jest mieć świadomość, że nie przynależy się do żadnego obozu, ale może to i lepiej. Miłego! Few months earlier somebody told me that things like that can happened. Now I know what he had in mind. Yesterday we were briefed to the next project. When Robin said that we will work in groups with designers sky became cloudy and turned navy blue, almost black and lightnings started shooting from machine guns. Ok, it wasn’t like that but the atmosphere in studio was clear. Illustrators have beef with designers. Everything would be ok if I wasn’t designer. I think this dividers are stupid, we all are communication designers, we just use different tools. I don’t understand this, its a little bit weird knowing that you don’t belong to any group. But maybe it’s for the better. Have a nice one.
